'SISTERS"

Well we finally were able to drag home our newest member to our trailer family... haven't named her yet... so for now I'll just call her "Cub"...

We spotted this cute lil trailer about 4 months ago, (in our neighborhood) and finally got brave enough to mail the owners a little letter  stating that if ever they wanted to part with it, give us a call... and call they did.. we got to see it, agreed on a price and then, in spite of the rain, we dragged her to her new forever home.

From our research and the helpful input from Tim Heintz (Heintz Designs Vintage Trailer Restorations) and Jeurgen Eichmuller we have come to the agreement that the trailer, is probably from the very late 1940's.
It is a Cub Cruiser by Viking, formally in Anaheim, California. The company for the most part went out of trailer manufacturing in the late 1950's. They sold their property to the Walt Disney Company in the early 1950's.  After ceasing production of trailers the Viking company turned it's focus on 'Midget Race Car' kits.

I have only seen one other Viking trailer,  a 16 footer, which is currently being restored by Tim Heintz. (In Florida).
Our little 'Cub' is 12ft long and 7ft wide and with it's bubble top, it is easy for hubby dearest to walk around in.

It's in pretty rough shape in some areas,,, but as we say, "Show No Fear!"...
Here she sits all forlorn at her old home.
 Bringing her home...
We parked her next to her 'sister'...
and now for the fun and head scratching to begin...
we managed to find a picture (from an ad on ebay) of what a small Viking trailer looks like.
an old mattress was stored up along side our little Cub,, as you can see from the 'staining'
I love the old hardware knobs and handles.
This was the original Butane lamp... how Kool is that!
and now for the fun... FYI...I am married to the Best hubby in the world... because no matter what hair brained ideas or projects I come home with,,, he (after rolling his eyes), rolls up his sleeves and gets busy!

"Jackson"

For those of you who know me from way back when,,, (pre-married days)... my maiden name was JACKSON...
Well, while hubby dearest and I were out and about for a lovely sunny day drive,,, we spotted this address marker...
Whoa Nellie! I need one of these! but  with my 'Sisters on the Fly' number..
Hmmm, I think it's time for me to sign up for a class to learn how to cut metal... Adult ED.,,, here I come!
So what I didn't do was take a photo of the cute little Bambi Airstream in the driveway... I did not want to invade the owners privacy...
I love that they have a VW towing a Bambi... thou I suspect they really use a tow vehicle... but then again,, maybe they had another tiny trailer, hidden from view, that could be towed with a VW Bug.
How cute would that be?
Happy Trails....

The Traveling Handbag, Hit's the Trail...

The Traveling handbag,,, enjoyed strolling the trails of Lake Hensley on a lovey sunny Sunday....
'TTHB'  got to see Lake Hensley for the first time,,, (me too!)  even with the 3 year drought, the Lake was  wonderful ... I love love love lakes,,, and I am even thinking... toying with the idea of maybe getting a small canoe to paddle around the many Lakes that we have around us up here in the surrounding Yosemite area.
hmmm, it was a warm, sunny day, maybe I should have put some sunscreen on 'TTHB'...
Oh, and while we were out and about hiking the trails, we spotted Little Bunny FooFoo...
Hope your Sunday was equally beautiful.

Vtg. Trailer from the 1940's..

Hmmm, could there possibly be something in the works!?!
Viking Trailer CO. started in the mid 1930's... We are thinking this might be a 1947.
Fingers & eyes crossed!

OMGpeers!

Well all I can say is,,, OMGeepers! What a great time I had Glamping with all of my 170 +/- sisters down on the V6 Ranch in Parkfield, Calif...
Don't get me wrong,,, it was butt cold over night and beautiful in spite of the intermittent rains during the days. Dry camping at it's best and worst....
I was non-stop fluttering around hugging 'sisters' I haven't seen in years, and hugging new sisters that I just met,,, taking photos of some of the cutest trailers,,, aka 'playhouses on wheels'...target practicing, horse back riding and touring the Junktique shops over in Paso Robles... I found myself in 'trailer cuteness overload'...
And to think I will be doing it all over again in 6 weeks!
We stopped off in Kettleman City for gas, a soda... and to stretch our legs.
Welcome to the V6 Ranch.. 5 days of Glamping fun!
We were surrounded by cattle and horse ranches.... and a gazillion ground squirrels!
All set up, waiting for the first round of rains to hit.
Trailer row.... there where trailers everywhere...
Becky, and Maurrie, real life sisters who started 'Sisters on the Fly'... and tucked in between them is  Kris Brown (center) who was our Grand Hostess at camp.
Me and my trustee steed, "Janzie".. what a sweet ride she was... if I thought I could have smuggle her in my trailer and brought her home,,, trust me, I would have!
Yep,,, when you think Parkfield,, think Earthquake center of California, Shake, Rattle and Roll!
Ok, so maybe I was misbehaving just a wee bit... and to think, I thought,,, "What happens at Camp,,,  Stays at Camp".. WRONG!  lol!

Now to catch my breath until the last week of May for my next Sisters on the Fly outing up in the west side of Yosemite Valley, El Portal...
Wagons HO!
